Tomorrow in Howard County teens under the age of 18 will no longer be able get a tan from a indoor tanning bed. The Howard County Board of Health passed the vote unanimous (9 - 0), the law is the first of it's kind in the nation.Just as the Senate is inching closer to passing the massive 2000 page health care bill which includes a public option, Howard County bans indoor tanning beds for kids under 18. Coincidence? I don't think so, while it might be tough for congress and senate to pass a bill like this, it won't be hard for counties and states to do so. Obviously the government wants to cut down on costs for the public option, one of those costs would be the raising rates of skin cancer. So why not ban indoor tanning for teens?
It should be the parent's chose if a teen goes to a tanning bed, not the government's. When I have 5 packets of mayonnaise with my medium fries I know the risk, I know I'm clogging my arteries. Should the government make choices for what I eat, no. Neither should they choose if I decide to get a indoor tan.
I should note that I believe that indoor tanning beds are not the healthiest and I do believe that they are responsible for the rise in skin cancer. I personally will ever go to a indoor tanning bed but that's my choice not the government's.

Very true, I don't like the recent government involvement in random things like this. People really aren't as stupid as the government would like to think.
